'Agarak Copper and Molybdenum Combine' CJSC Intending to Expand 'Davazami' Tailing Dump Area

'Agarak Copper and Molybdenum Combine' CJSC intends to expand the area of 'Davazami' Tailing Dump owned by Agarak Copper and Molybdenum Combine making it from 93 ha to 128 ha. The expansion of the tailing dump area is conditioned with the increase in productivity of Agarak Copper and Molybdenum Combine since 2010 (3.5 million tons per year). It's planned to increase the dam from 810 meters to 920 meters and to accumulate 40.8 million cum tails in the tailing dump with 3.5 million tons per year productivity during 16 years. It's also planned to recover the water circulation system of the tailing dump. Currently tailing dump wastewater is dumped into transboundary Araks River. The area of the tailing dump is located in 9-magnitude seismic zone. The total area of reclaiming including the infrastructures of the tailing dump will account for 137.57 ha. The leasing of the land areas designed for the tailing dumps is 25 years.
