Category. Endangered species. Two sub–population are known in Zangezur and Meghri floristic regions. The extent of occurrence and the area of occupancy are less than 500 km2. It was not included in the first edition of the Red Data Book of Armenia. It is not included in the Annexes of CITES and that of the Bern Convention.

Description. Perennial herb 2–10 cm, with numerous shortened sterile shoots. Lower leaves linear, up to 3 cm long, upper ones smaller. Calyx 10–15 mm long. Petals white or pink, with paracorolla. Highly ornamental plant.

Distribution. In Armenia it occurs in Zangezur (mountains Kaputdjugh and Khustup) and Meghri (Kuris) floristic regions. EOO is 200 km2, AOO is 16 km2. The number of locations is 3. Besides Armenia the species grows in Nakhichevan and North–East Anatolia.

Ecological, biological and phytocoenological peculiarities. Grows in alpine belt, at the altitudes of 2500–3800 meters above sea level, on rocks. Flowering in June, fruiting in July.

Limiting factors. Restricted extent of occurrence and area of occupancy, global climate change.

Conservation actions. Part of the population grows in the area of "Arevik" National park. Necessary: monitoring of the population state.
