Allochrusa takhtajanii: Red Data Book of Armenia

Category. Critically endangered species. Endemic of Armenia. Only one population is known. The extent of occurrence and the area of occupancy are less than 10 km2. The species grows in the lands intensively developed for agricultures purposes. It was not included in the first edition of the Red Data Book of Armenia. It is not included in the Annexes of CITES and that of the Bern Convention.

Description. Subshrub, 20–40 cm, covered with simple, not glandulose hairs. Inflorescence depauperate. Calyx 5–5,5 (6) mm long; teeth 1,5 mm long. Petals white, hardly prominent from calyx, with slightly emarginated blade.

Distribution. In Armenia it occurs only in Yerevan floristic region (surroundings of Surenavan village). AOO is 4 km2. The number of locations is 1.

Ecological, biological and phytocoenological peculiarities. Grows in lower mountain belt, at the altitudes of 800 meters above sea level, on dry stony slopes, in the semi–deserts. Flowering in June, fruiting from June to July.

Limiting factors. Restricted extent of occurrence and area of occupancy, loss/degradation of habitats caused by land development for agricultural purposes.

Conservation actions. No conservation actions. Necessary: monitoring of the population state, search of new habitats.
