Category. Endangered species. Endemic of Transcaucasia. The extent of occurrence and the area of occupancy are less than 500 km2. The species faces decline of the extent of occurrence and area of occupancy caused by changes in habitat conditions. It was not included in the first edition of the Red Data Book of Armenia. It is not included in the Annexes of CITES and that of the Bern Convention.

Description. Rhizomatous perennial herb. Stems scapiform, erect, 7–20 cm, long–pilose, under capitulum tomentose–white. Rosette leaves green from above, tomentose–grey from below, pinnatisect. Capitula solitary, 2 cm in diam. Flowers pink.

Distribution. In Armenia it occurs in Lori (surroundings of Kurtan village) and Idjevan (surroundings of Haghpat, Dsegh, Dzoragyugh, Shahali, Pambak villages) floristic regions. EOO is 120 km2, AOO is 24 km2. The number of locations is 2. Besides Armenia the species grows in East Transcaucasia.

Ecological, biological and phytocoenological peculiarities. Grows in middle and upper mountain belts, at the altitudes of 1100–2300 meters above sea level, on rocks in the forest area. Flowering from May to June, fruiting from June to July.

Limiting factors. Restricted extent of occurrence and area of occupancy, loss/degradation of habitats caused by economic activity.

Conservation actions. No conservation actions. Necessary: monitoring of the population state.
