Anemone ranunculoides: Red Data Book of Armenia

Category. Endangered species. Three sub–populations are known in the North Armenia. The extent of occurrence is less than 5000 km2, area of occupancy is less than 500 km2. The species faces decline of the extent of occurrence and area of occupancy caused by internal factors and forest cuttings. It was not included in the first edition of the Red Data Book of Armenia. It is not included in the Annexes of CITES and that of the Bern Convention.
Description. Perennial rhizomatous herb, 10–20 cm. Flowers with involucre of shortly petiolate, digitate–dissected cauline leaves, similar to the basal ones. Flowers yellow.
Distribution. In Armenia it grows only in Idjevan floristic region. EOO is 980 km2, AOO is 20 km2, the number of locations is 3. Besides Armenia the general area of distribution includes the Caucasus, Europe, countries of the Mediterranean Sea basin, North Anatolia.
Ecological, biological and phytocoenological peculiarities. Grows in middle mountain belt, at the altitudes of 1000–2000 meters above sea level, in the forests. Flowering in April, fruiting in May.
Limiting factors. Restricted extent of occurrence and area of occupancy, loss/degradation of habitats caused by forest cuttings.
Conservation actions. Part of the population grows in "Dilidjan" National Park. Necessary: monitoring of the population state, search of new habitats.
