Category. Endangered species. It occurs only in the lakes of Lori plain. The extent of occurrence and the area of occupancy are less than 10 km2. Since the species is wide spread, the category of threat has been downgraded to EN. In the first edition of the Red Data Book of Armenia it was included under 1 category: Endangered species. It is not included in the Annexes of CITES and that of the Bern Convention.
Description. Perennial rootless herb with shortened, distinctly dimorphic shoots 10–30 cm. One type of shoots with green leaves without bubbles, the other one – with reduced colorless leaves with bubbles. Scapes 2–6–flowered. Fructiferous pedicels erect. Corolla pale yellow. Fruit a globose capsule; seeds numerous.
Distribution. In Armenia it occurs in Lori (Klor and Kiz–Kala lakes) floristic region. AOO is 8 km2, the number of locations is 2, the distance between them is 18 km. Besides Armenia the main area of distribution includes Arctic and Tropical Eurasia, North America.
Ecological, biological and phytocoenological peculiarities. Grows in middle mountain belt, at the altitude of 1500–1700 meters above sea level, on the lakes, in swamp waters. Flowering from June to July, fruiting in August. Insectivorous plant.
Limiting factors. Restricted extent of occurrence and area of occupancy, loss/degradation of habitats caused by global climate change and natural succession of vegetation.
Conservation actions. No conservation actions. Necessary: survey on sub–population numbers and range, search of new habitats, monitoring of the state of the population, establishment of new specially protected area in Lori plain.
