Category. Endangered species. Endemic of Transcaucasia. The extent of occurrence is less than 5000 km2, the area of occupancy is less than 500 km2. In Armenia the species faces decline of the extent of occurrence and the area of occupancy caused by global climate change. It was not included in the first edition of the Red Data Book of Armenia. It is not included in the Annexes of CITES and that of the Bern Convention.

Description. Perennial herb 10–30 cm. Stems numerous. Leaves narrow, pinnatisect, slightly fleshy, acutate. Capitulum solitary. Involucre patelliform, with 1 row of white ligulate flowers and yellow, 4–dentate tubular flowers. Involucre phyllaries narrow, membranous, with dark margins. Achenes with 5–6 longitudinal ribs. Pappus entire, irregularly obtuse–lobed.

Distribution. In Armenia it grows in Zangezur and Meghri (mountain ranges Zangezur, Bargushat and Meghri) floristic regions. EOO is 580 km2, AOO is 24 km2. The number of locations is 5. The area of distribution includes Karabagh (Mrav mountain range).

Ecological, biological and phytocoenological peculiarities. Grows in alpine belt, at the altitudes of 2500–3600 meters above sea level, on rocky and stony slopes. Flowering from June to July, fruiting from July to August. Decorative species.

Limiting factors. Restricted extent of occurrence and area of occupancy, change in habitat conditions caused by nomadic livestock, global climate change.

Conservation actions. Part of the population grows in the area of "Arevik" National park. Necessary: monitoring of the state of the population.
