Dorema glabrum: Red Data Book of Armenia

Category. Critically endangered species. Endemic of South Transcaucasia. It occurs in Yerevan floristic region. The extent of occurrence is less than 100 km2, the area of occupancy is less than 10 km2. The area of the habitats is severely fragmented subjected to intensive economical activity. In the first edition of the Red Data Book of Armenia it was included under Category 1: Endangered species. It is not included in the Annexes of CITES and that of the Bern Convention.
Description. Glabrous perennial monocarpic herb, up to 2m. Terminal lobes of basal leaves ovate, 3–6 cm long. Umbels simple, on short peduncles, 9–12–rayed. Bracts absent. Petals pale yellow. Fruits 5–8 cm long, elliptic, dorsally compressed, vittae in valleculae solitary.
Distribution. In Armenia it grows in Yerevan floristic region (Yeraskh, Zovashen). EOO is 44 km2, AOO is 8 km2, locations are 2. Besides Armenia it occurs in Nakhichevan.
Ecological, biological and phytocoenological peculiarities. Grows in lower mountain belt, at the altitudes of 800–1100 meters above sea level, on clay and gypsaceous slopes, saline soils, among phryganoid vegetation.
Limiting factors. Restricted extent of occurrence and area of occupancy, fragmentation of the area of distribution, loss/degradation of habitats caused by amelioration, expansion of arable lands.
Conservation actions. No conservation actions. Necessary: survey of population numbers and range, search of new habitats, monitoring of the population state.
