Status. A rare oligotopic species. Listed in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (ver. 3.1) as Least Concern. According to IUCN criteria categorized as Data Deficient DD.
Distribution. The species is distributed in Crimea, Caucasus, Turkey and Cyprus.
Distribution in Armenia. Occurs in mixed forests of Northeastern Armenia.
Habitats. Lives in forests with an essential presence of pines where feeds predominantly on pine seeds.
Biological traits. Three to four eggs are laid once a year.
Population size and its trends. Available information is insufficient to judge about the population size. There is no information about captive breeding of this bird.
Major threats. Poorly studied. Possibly, habitats shrink because of uncontrolled deforestation, particularly pine felling.
Conservation measures. It is essential to assess population status and human impacts on the population to ensure proper conservation of this species and its habitats in the future.
