Steptorhamphus czerepanovii: Red Data Book of Armenia

Category. Critically endangered species. Endemic of South Transcaucasia. The extent of occurrence and area of occupancy are less than 10 km2. Area of distribution is severely fragmented. It was not included in the first edition of the Red Data Book of Armenia. It is not included in the Annexes of CITES and that of the Bern Convention.
Description. Stem one, 25–55 cm. Cauline leaves entire. Flower stalks thin. Flowers whitish, whitish–yellow or whitish–blue. Achenes dark violet, elliptic, with 1 central rib, completely covered by white papillose erect hairs.
Distribution. In Armenia it occurs in Yerevan ("Khosrov Forest" State Reserve) and Darelegis (between the villages Horadis and Khndzorut) floristic regions. AOO is 8 km2, the number of locations is 2, the distance between them is 70 km. Besides Armenia the species grows in Nakhichevan.
Ecological, biological and phytocoenological peculiarities. Grows in middle mountain belt, at the altitude of 1400–1800 meters above sea level, on screes. Flowering from June to July, fruiting from July to September.
Limiting factors. Restricted extent of occurrence and area of occupancy.
Conservation actions. Part of the population grows in the territory of "Khosrov Forest" State reserve. Necessary: survey on population numbers and range, search of new habitats, monitoring of the state of the population.
